2048

Controls and source details are below. The game will only load after you choose to start.

No autoplay and no account—the game runs locally in your browser.

01

How the game works

Slide matching tiles together and build the board toward 2048.

02

Your goal

Combine equal-value tiles until a 2048 tile appears, then continue for a higher score if you like.

03

How to play

  1. Swipe the board or use an arrow key to move every tile.
  2. When equal tiles meet, they merge into one tile with twice the value.
  3. Keep open space on the board while building toward 2048.
04

Controls

Desktop

Use the four arrow keys. A new game button appears above the board.

Mobile

Swipe up, down, left, or right directly on the board.

05

Rules & scoring

  • Every move shifts all available tiles in one direction.
  • Equal tiles merge once per move and add their new value to the score.
  • The round ends when no empty cells or legal merges remain.

Each merge adds the value of the new tile. Best score is kept locally by the upstream game.

06

Useful tactics

  • Keep your highest-value tile anchored in one corner.
  • Avoid filling the board with alternating values that cannot merge.
  • Preserve one preferred direction until a recovery move is necessary.
